Clutch dropped to the ground while driving pontiac grand am 2002?

I have a Pontiac Grand Am 2002, I was driving it today and first it started to jerk when I went into gear and then all of a sudden it drops to the ground and it will pop back up but will then go flat to the ground when it is pushed, it will turn into gear but any time I try to accelerate it nothing happends sugguestions
